Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle sits on Castle Rock, the plug of an ancient volcano, high above Princes Street Gardens. Below it in the gardens stands the Ross Fountain, a gilded cast-iron fountain made in France, shown at the International Exhibition in London in 1862 and assembled here in 1872. I collected the two together from the gardens: the fountain in front, the castle on its rock behind. The print sets them under a violet and amber sky with the trees and flower beds of the gardens turned to gold, drawn in heavy ink and flat bold colour. Edinburgh Castle is part of the Edinburgh Collection and the Storied Skylines series. Printed to order on heavy matte fine art paper, A3 to A1, and shipped worldwide.
